There is an interesting vocabulary that has been deliberately designed for the programming framework that is used to interact with Amazon systems via Alexa devices. It includes terms like "skill", "invocation", and "intent" all of which have a long social and etymological history that is drawn upon but reconfigured in extremely specific ways for use within the Alexa framework. Rather than learning to program, we might spend time learning the terms in the glossary and discuss: why certain words have been chosen over other possibilities? Whether these words contain more exciting possibilities than their limited deployment in the Alexa ecology?
