Pluralizing the curriculum is a call to rethink theory not as universal but as situated. This point speaks directly to point 1a3b above. Scholarship from Southern contexts should not be added as ‘exceptions’ to Northern theoretical ‘norms’ but understood as conceptual and theoretical in their own right. For instance, historical origin stories about NLP in Euro-American contexts should not conceptually supersede the regional and transnational histories as well as socio-political dimensions of NLP in other contexts.
